About Bass Fishing Tips

Welcome to the Bass Fishing Tips & Tactics blog!

This site was created for two basic reasons:

  1. To fulfill a promise I made to myself long ago to write about all the things I learned about bass and bass fishing over the years, and
  2. To share that accumulated knowledge and provide helpful insight to other interested fisher-people!

I love to fish and have since I was first introduced to fishing by my father a few more years ago than I care to think about sometimes 🙂  My eternal thanks go out not only to my dad but all others who continually helped keep my angling desire alive and kicking …

Though my main focus today is in pursuit of the two most abundant members of the Micropterus clan – the largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) and the smallmouth bass (Micropterus dolomieu), like most other kids, I was happy with whatever we caught …

By the time I hit my mid-teens, however, I started to become focused or perhaps even a little obsessed with chasing largemouths and occasionally smallmouths (largemouths were definitely more prevalent in the ponds and streams of the Greater Boston area).  Things only got worse by the time I hit 20 and was introduced to my first bass fishing club when the “bass bug” took hold and never let go.

Since those early years, life’s calling sent me out west to the Colorado Rockies, then to the Midwest and back to New England giving me the opportunity to check out the varying habitats of the black bass.  One of the really cool things about spending time on so many different types of water bodies was the opportunity to learn that most fishing techniques are adaptable to each different environment.

The culmination of all these experiences forms the basis for the articles, videos and occasional podcast that will appear on this blog as time moves on …

I hope you find the information both beneficial and enjoyable and I encourage you to chime in with your comments and help build a conversation to benefit everyone who visits …

Tight lines and full livewells …
